Description of initiativeDescription of initiative
Citational justice refers to citing knowledge producers based on their identity in order to uplift marginalized scholars. It is particularly relevant to academia where there are imbalances around who is recognized and given credit for their intellectual labor. In this workshop, a panel of scholars will discuss what citations are and why we use them. They will then share tips on how to be more intentional in your citation practices, how to navigate the complexities of citing in an interdisciplinary field, and things to consider when crafting syllabi. You will learn structural issues around citational justice as well as action steps you can take to tackle these issues as a researcher and teacher.
